12 cities not getting any snow this weekend have been revealed by the Met Office. Maps and charts from the Met Office show amber and yellow weather alerts for snow are in force as we head into the first full weekend of the calendar year.
But large parts of the east of England look set to be unscathed – including Colchester, Canterbury in Kent, Southampton, Portsmouth, Plymouth, Truro and Exeter. Other places to escape the brunt include Brighton, Hove, Chichester, Norwich, Southend and Ipswich.
The Met Office forecast for Friday (January 3) explains: “It will remain cold but mostly dry and sunny for many. Snow showers will continue to affect coasts exposed to the northerly wind, but these will be more of a wintry mix of rain, sleet and snow in the west.
