Masked gang raid Post Office before fleeing in Honda as police reveal number plate of getaway car

A masked gang of robbers attacked a Post Office worker before stealing a large amount of cash, a computer and mobile phone. Police have issued an appeal for information.

The robbery took place at the Post Office on Drakes Cross Parade, in Hollywood, Worcestershire, south of Birmingham, shortly before 7pm on Monday, December 30. Three intruders gained entry via the back door before assaulting a staff member and gaining entry to a safe containing the large quantity of money. They stuffed the money in a blue duffle bag and swiped a phone and computer too.

The trio then fled the scene in a black Honda Civic, with a registration number starting with PY08. The robbers were wearing black jackets, jeans and black masks.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “Anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious, or has CCTV or video doorbell footage which may show the vehicle or offenders, is asked to please get in touch. Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Jeffrey Dube on Jeffrey.dube@westmercia.police.uk or 07973846375.

“Alternatively, if you have information but don’t feel comfortable speaking to police, you can speak to the independent charity Crimestoppers. It is 100% anonymous, they never ask your name, and they cannot trace your call or IP address. You can contact them online or by calling 0800 555 111.”
