A man has been charged following increased reports of burglaries in the Wavertree. At around 5am on Sunday, December 29, Merseyside Police officers on patrol on Picton Road spotted and detained a man who matched the description of a suspected burglar following attempted break-ins at a number of nearby homes.
Paul Andrews, 33, of no fixed abode, is due to appear at Wirral Magistrate’s Court today, Monday, December 30, charged with burglary. Detective Inspector Kevin O’Rourke of Merseyside Police’s burglary team, known as Operation Castle, said: “Being a victim of burglary can have a massive impact on the families affected as they have had their home invaded which is an awful experience to go through.
“We are determined to keep reducing offences and the harm this causes across Merseyside, and we will act on information we receive. We encourage people to come forward if you know anything about suspected burglary and the sale of stolen goods where you are. We’ll act on all information provided. We will continue to work proactively with communities and our partners to keep this progress going.”
