Doctor says do these three things to get healthier without joining a gym

A globally-renowned doctor is urging people to keep it simple if they want to become healthier in 2025. Dr Mark Hyman, who is also a speaker, educator and author, has shared three easy ways people can improve their health – and none of them are joining a gym.

Dr Hyman, who is also known for his podcast The Doctor’s Farmacy, shares regular medical advice with his millions of Instagram followers. On New Year’s Day, Dr Hyman issued a new update as he said: “You don’t need a gym membership or fancy gadgets to get healthy this year.

“Start by cutting out sugar, walking daily, and prioritising sleep. Health can be simple, don’t overcomplicate it.” Captioning the post, he added: “Happy 2025!

“Let this be your reminder as you set goals that you don’t need a gym membership or expensive gadgets to transform your health… simple, consistent habits are what will truly make a profound difference.” He suggested also cutting out ultra-processed foods as they “drive inflammation, disrupt your metabolism, and harm your gut microbiome, which plays a critical role in everything from immunity to brain function.”

On prioritising quality sleep, the doctor added: “During sleep, your body repairs damage, clears out toxins in your brain, and balances your hormones. Without it, even the best diet or exercise routine can’t compensate.”
