An e-scooter rider ‘seen riding dangerously’ on Birmingham streets on New year’s Eve has had his vehicle seized and faces a New Year charge. The rider was spotted riding along Gravelly Lane, then Summer Road ‘weaving between lanes’ and jumping ‘numerous red lights’ on Tuesday (December 31).
The rider did not spot an unmarked police car in Sutton New Road, close to Six Ways in Erdington and he was stopped. He had his e-scooter seized.
The rider, a 36-year-old man, is now set to be reported for having no insurance.

The Project Guardian team, which is usually responsible for youth violence and knife crime, were the ones that spotted the rider. They posted on X and said: “A rude awakening for the driver of this electric scooter!
“After speeding past our unmarked unit, weaving between lanes and paying no regard to numerous red traffic lights we were able to stop the driver and report him Scooter was also seized for no insurance.”
