Most people are planning to take their main holiday in June this year, preferably for 10 days, new research suggests. A survey of 2,000 adults found that a third will holiday in Britain, often for cost reasons.
Hotel chain Travelodge said its study indicated that one in four people will spend more money this year on holidays, averaging £1,449 on their main break. More than a quarter of respondents said a holiday was one of the few things they refused to cut back on and more than half revealed they would be willing to spend more money for sustainable and responsible travel choices in 2025.
A majority of those surveyed said their main holiday will be in June, lasting 10 days. A Travelodge spokesperson said: “We are seeing a broad spectrum of curiosity in UK travel with location and value continuing to top the list as the most important factors.”
Three out of five respondents said they will be having a holiday this year, with one in three of the 2,000 surveyed opting for a break in the UK. Two in five of those planning a UK holiday said they wanted to avoid the stress of travelling overseas.
One in four of those surveyed said they planned to spend more money on holidays in 2025 than last year.
