Forensics tent in place and neighbours left shocked after man seriously injured in robbery

A forensics tent is in place and a road is cordoned off following an incident on Sunday night, December 29, that has left a man seriously injured. Police and paramedics were called to Chorlton shortly before 8pm following reports of a robbery.

The injured man has been taken to hospital. Greater Manchester Police said no arrests have been made at this time and an investigation is ongoing, with neighbours left shocked following the incident.

Julie, a resident on Oswald Road, said the emergency services were ‘cramped around a car’ in the aftermath of the incident.

“We just heard loads of sirens and saw all police cars and thought ‘what the hell is going on?’

“They were all cramped around a car and were ushering people away. You just don’t expect it.”

A neighbour, who didn’t want to be named, said: “We just saw all the blue flashing lights about 10 to 8. We ignored them for a bit but then looked out and there were ambulances and about four police cars.

“We saw someone get whisked off in an ambulance with a police escort so assumed somebody had been attacked.

“They were all around a car but we weren’t sure it it was a plan clothes officer’s car. They might have been looking under it, it was hard to tell.”
