‘Tragic’ M40 crash as man killed while walking on motorway slip road

A man walking on the M40 slip road near Denham, just over the border from West London into Buckinhamshire, has died after being hit by a car. The pedestrian was walking on the Junction 1 exit slip road of the motorway, where it joins the A40 northbound at about 10.30pm on Saturday (December 28).

He was hit by a grey Audi A4, the driver of which was not injured in the crash. A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said no arrests have been made.

Inspector Simon Hills of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, said: “This was a tragic incident which has very sadly resulted in the death of a male pedestrian. I am appealing to anybody who was driving in the area at the time of the collision to please check their dash-cam footage and contact Thames Valley Police if it has captured anything that can assist this investigation.

“I would also urge anybody who saw the male on the carriageway in the moments leading up to the collision, or who witnessed the incident, to please get in touch. You can do so by calling 101, or make a report online, quoting reference number 43240626547.

“Enquiries are ongoing to identify the victim’s next of kin, and that remains one of our top priorities at this time.”
