We dive into the archives and dig out a few classics. Old Snow Hill station, Birmingham Racecourse and Chelmsley Wood under construction. Some classic images showing how the city has changed over the decades.
Included is the Birmingham Hall of Memory pictured in the 1930s. Only opened in 1925 it all looks vey new at that time. Wychall Lane in Kings Norton in 1956 looked like a country lane and Snow Hill Station was a grand busy place to be before it was closed and reopened again.
We even had a racecourse at Bromford and many roads today keep the legend alive with their road names linked to the racing world. Sandown Road, Redcar Croft, Cheltenham Drive and Haydock Close just a few of the many.

In the 70s the new towns of Birmingham were popping up, like Chelmsley and Lee Bank with their modern new tower blocks for a modern way of living.
However it is nice to see some area have hardly changed over the decades with Bournville looking very much the same as it always has along with St Philip’s Cathedral looking much the same today as it did in the 1950s.
