Severe delays on London Underground while commuters return to work

There are severe delays on the London Underground as commuters return to work after the New Year.

The Piccadilly Line is already severely delayed after leaf fall from two weeks ago caused damage to tracks and carriages.

Commuters have been advised to take the Metropolitan Line to help complete their journeys.

Transport for London said: ‘High volumes of leaves can make the track slippery and increase the risk of damage to train wheels, which is why we sometimes must introduce part-suspensions at this time of year, depending on weather conditions.’
