Asda slashes prices of 2,500 household staples in January cost of living boost

Supermarket giant Asda has started the new year by offering customers a cost of living boost after cutting the price of thousands of products.

Household favourites including Cathedral City Mature Cheddar, Dolmio Bolognese Sauce and Persil Wonder Wash have been reduced in price by an average of 26%. is also cutting the cost of some of its own-brand lines, including Asda Whole Chicken and Asda Salmon Fillets.

The Big Jan Price Drop comes as the Asda income tracker revealed that despite household spending power continuing to improve, rising inflation is expected to continue to pose challenges for families in 2025.

Commenting on the initiative, David Hills, chief customer officer at Asda said: “We know that as we come out of the festive period, budgets can be a concern for many families. Our Big Jan Price Drop aims to ease that burden and make money stretch further for our customers, by reducing the prices of the products they’re buying week in, week out, continuing to offer uncompromising value to all.”

The price drops are running throughout January, and a selection of the 2,560 products that have been reduced in price can be found below:
