The start of a new year is the perfect time for a fitness routine refresh, and PureGym’s annual report is back to “bring inspiration.” The report has once again delved deep into all the trending workouts of the moment to reveal which is likely to be the biggest for 2025 and which ones are dying out.

The analysis, which compared the current number of monthly global Google searches for more than 200 fitness trends to the same period one year ago, has revealed the workouts and fitness fads that people are no longer obsessing over.

The report finds the top trends of one year are often the biggest losers of the next. This is true for the likes of the ‘treadmill strut’, 12-3-30 rule and wall Pilates – which have all topped trends lists in previous years but have followed the pattern of ‘viral’ trends that see a rapid rise to fame before quickly fading away.

However, it’s the 28-day wall Pilates challenge that ranks as the biggest loser overall, with a huge 84% drop in interest for the workout plan in the last twelve months.

Stepper-ton, the fast-paced dance-based workout that uses step aerobics as its basis, is also among the biggest fallers, despite step aerobics itself ranking in the top 10 trends for 2025. Below is the full list and you can read the fitness trends set to dominate the next 12 months.
