BBC The Traitors star Claudia Winkleman’s ‘hidden’ reason for wearing fingerless gloves

The Traitors has returned for its third series with plenty of plotting already underway. But alonside the tension and excitement, the show also showcases Claudia Winkleman’s unique winter wardrobe.

From tweed to capes and cosy knits, she certainly knows how to make a style statement in the castle, with her signature accessory being her fingerless gloves. Despite the series being shot in the height of summer (with contestants often seen in T-shirts and shorts remarking on the heat), Claudia’s stylist was ahead of the game, decking her out in some seriously covetable winter-ready looks that have us all scrambling for details during each episode.

While it may seem an unusual choice for a presenter, Claudia’s fingerless gloves serve a practical purpose. Fingerless gloves are actually designed to protect the hands and wrists, while allowing the fingers to be open for use.

Essentially, they aim to keep the hands warm without restricting finger movement, reports the Mirror. This means you can also type or use a phone while wearing them. Perhaps they keep Claudia’s hands cosy while also enabling her to work around the castle.

Discussing her fashion choices on BBC Radio 2, Claudia revealed: “I want a fingerless glove and I want eye make-up that looks like I’ve slept in the skip. I tell you what I’ve always wanted to look like and, once I worked it out, I was like ‘I’m going with this’.

“I wanted to look like a male, mature French student. It’s true. Let’s call him Jean, right? ” This video has since been viewed over 200,000 times, with fans hailing Claudia as an “icon” and expressing their love for her personality reflected in her clothing.
