BBC Strictly Come Dancing’s professional dancer, Amy Dowden, might be known for her stunning footwork but she’s currently making waves with her vocal talents rather than her dancing skills.
The Welsh star has temporarily filled in for Wynne Evans on his BBC Radio Wales daytime show while he’s on a break. Amy took to Instagram to share her enthusiasm for the role, posting a photo from the Cardiff station’s office.
The 34-year-old shared: “Loved covering the lovely @wynneevans radio show today. I’m back covering again tomorrow morning 9am-12! Get in touch, have loved hearing from you all this morning.”

Amy’s fans were quick to express their support on her post, with one listener remarking: “Was lovely to listen this morning – can’t wait for tomorrow morning too.”
Another chimed in with praise, saying: “You did SO good! loved listening to you,” reports Wales Online.
A third fan referred to her affectionately as a “beautiful queen,” conveying festive greetings with: “Love you Amy! Happy New Year you beautiful queen.”
One caller, thrilled by the interaction, commented: “I absolutely loved talking to you even if I was very star struck.” Meanwhile, another added eagerly: “Yay- always look forward to hearing more Amy on the radio.”
Amy has previously been featured on BBC Radio Wales and fronted her own BBC Wales dance show, Amy Dowden’s Dare To Dance. She is also a frequent face on ITV1’s Lorraine.
In 2024, Amy made a triumphant return to Strictly Come Dancing following her treatment for breast cancer. However, her comeback was cut short due to a foot injury.

Her celebrity partner, JB Gill, was subsequently paired with fellow professional dancer Lauren Oakley, and they managed to reach the final.
Amy has also expressed her desire to become a mother in the future. Prior to her breast cancer treatment, she and her husband froze five embryos. Despite experiencing early menopause as a result of chemotherapy, Amy remains hopeful about starting a family.
Speaking on the What If podcast, she shared: “I’m just saying yes to as many opportunities and living life to the full, spending time with loved ones as well and obviously, we would love a family.”
She continued: “And we’ve got embryos because obviously I’ve got a hormone fed cancer, so I had to go to menopause, which happened the day I started chemo.”
Amy concluded by expressing hope for the future: “So in a couple of years, when they feel it’s safe to, hopefully we’ll have the opportunity. And if not, there’s still lots of other opportunities, which we have spoken about.”
