Good Morning Britain viewers were left less than impressed with a segment deemed “utter rubbish” that focused on The Masked Singer. Presenters Kate Garraway and Adil Ray, who were at the helm on Friday (January 3), introduced a costumed Giant Joel Dommett to the show, reports the Express.
This character, donning a mask, represents an incognito celebrity contestant from The Masked Singer, who is anticipated to be revealed shortly. Keen to uncover the identity of the person behind the mask, Kate and Adil presented a series of yes or no questions, using a giant foam finger for responses, such as “Are you taller than the real Joel Dommett? ” and “Is your head bigger than Joel Dommett’s?”.
However, the segment did not sit well with fans, as one viewer expressed their frustration on social media: “I see you need to unplug your brain in order to watch #GMB this morning…” Another chimed in with criticism: “Bobble head human now featuring on the ‘news’. Jesus, #GMB is a total clown show whose only purpose is to promote other ITV shows.”
A third viewer was so disappointed they threatened to change the channel: “This #MaskedSinger segment is embarrassing. Switching off if it doesn’t improve.” Another simply stated: “What utter rubbish! “
The episode also included a pause for “urgent” weather warnings for the UK, advising of the impending cold snap and encouraging the elderly to keep warm indoors despite the soaring energy bills.
Good Morning Britain has recently come under fire, with viewers calling for an Ofcom probe into remarks made by Adil Ray that were perceived as “fat-shaming” towards young darts star Luke Littler. The 17 year old triumphed over Nathan Aspinall with a 5-2 score to reach the semi-finals of the World Darts Championship.

However, during a segment where his victory was shown, Adil Ray expressed concern about the teenager’s health due to his appearance and lifestyle, saying: “I’m a little bit worried about Littler. He’s 17 and he’s turning into the look of a darts player.”
He continued, hinting at the stereotype of darts players’ physiques: “If I were his mum and dad, I mean, he’s sort of – look at him! He’s admitting to having pizzas before a match. I’d be a bit worried. He’s going to get more successful and he can keep on doing it but I don’t want him to get too unhealthy. Just before the final. Here you go, I’ve got a salad for you from Pret.”
This prompted a backlash from the audience, with one viewer angrily tweeting: “Adil trying to fat shame Luke Littler is not the best thing this morning,” while another concurred, “@gmb Really, Fat shaming live on morning TV @Ofcom should investigate this shocking behaviour.”
