Suspects named after violent disorder breaks out in Merseyside

The total number of people arrested by Merseyside Police in connection with violent disorder has now reached 163

Two suspects have been named after violent disorder broke out in Merseyside. The charges come following violent scenes which broke out in Southport on Tuesday, July 30 and in Liverpool city centre and Walton on Saturday, August 3.

Jack Mason, 31, of Grasmere Avenue, St Helens, was charged with violent disorder in Liverpool City Centre and will appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, January 9. Michael Rimmer, 25, of Wavell Avenue, Southport, was charged with violent disorder in Southport and possession of cocaine.

He has been bailed to appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, January 16. The total number of people arrested by Merseyside Police has now reached 163, with 121 charged and 89 sentenced to a total of 182 years and four months.

A spokesperson for the force said images and footage are still being worked through so contact them with any information by calling 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
