Direct Eurostar trains to Amsterdam from London to restart after 7 months with tickets starting at £39

The direct Eurostar line from Amsterdam to London is set to recommence after seven months of construction works. Since June last year, the route between the two capital cities has suffered delays as renovations took place at Amsterdam Centraal station to allow stronger border control and security checks required as a result of Brexit.

Passengers heading from Amsterdam to London have instead been required to make an almost hour-long changeover at Brussels to go through passport control, before re-embarking on the train to London. This workaround will halt on February 10 as the direct line resumes.

But that’s not entirely the end of it. While the line will resume on February 10, it will temporarily close again on March 29 to allow for a month of further maintenance works at Amsterdam Centraal. The line will then fully reopen at the end of April.

As a result of more space at the revamped station, new Eurostar carriages will have capacity for 440 passengers compared to the previous 275 capacity.

The direct Eurostar from London to Amsterdam has not been affected by the maintenance works and will continue to run as normal. The direct journey takes three hours 52 minutes and prices begin at £39 a trip.
