UK snow map shows where will be worst-hit in England tomorrow with 22cm hitting

UK snow maps show where the worst-hit part of the country will be this weekend as the country faces 22cm – eight inches – of the white stuff. Scotland and the north of England face snow depths of up to 22cm this weekend, on January 4 and January 5.

That’s according to WX Charts, which uses Met Desk data, to project the latest outlook and forecasts. Netweather TV’s Jo Farrow stated: “For London and the Home Counties, the weekend will turn more cloudy and feel cold by day. Any snow is mostly during Saturday night but will turn to rain by Sunday morning as the temperatures leap up and milder air follows from the southwest.

” Birmingham will see a grey Saturday but it will be overnight when the wintry weather arrives. The snow could last into Sunday morning with possible disruption on the roads. It will turn to sleet and rain on Sunday but stay cold.”

James Madden, from Exacta Weather, said: “I have to keep repeating this to people in the comments wanting answers, but my forecast has always stated that after this weekend’s snow event, we will effectively see the snow coming back on itself and returning from the north to large parts of central and southern regions during early next week.

“So despite earlier snow and heavy snow turning to rain in some of these more southern areas, it will return quite quickly as the cold and associated weather features collide to deliver further snow…” He added: “A breakdown of these colder and wintry conditions is more likely to happen towards the end of the next week, but only after one final transient snowy and stormy episode will we see some sort of respite from these overall conditions.”

And urging caution, Mr Madden said: “This is one of the big and widespread snowy periods of this winter coming to fruition in the coming days, guys. Enjoy but also take care with the extra hazards these types of weather conditions present us with….”
