Claudia Winkleman, star of The Traitors, has confessed her obsession with a certain superfood known for its cholesterol-lowering properties.
In a recent episode of Mark Wogan’s Virgin Radio podcast, Claudia professed her fondness for avocados, one of the few fruits she regularly consumes.
She said: “I don’t like fruit in anything savoury, I won’t have it. I’m not interested in fruit. If you said to me ‘Claude, bad news, we’ve lost all the fruit’, I’d be like ‘okay’.
“I think I had a cherry that I quite enjoyed once but that’s it, but no fruit’s not my bag, I like a potato.”
Despite seemingly being unaware of the fruit’s extensive health benefits, experts have long recommended incorporating this superfood into our diets.
Healthline suggests that eating avocados can decrease ‘bad’ cholesterol and increase ‘good’ cholesterol levels, although they stress the need for further research to fully understand these effects.

But avocados offer more than just cholesterol management; they’re packed with nutrients, healthy fats, protein, and vitamins and minerals often missing from our diets. Some even suggest that this nutrient-rich superfood could potentially reduce the risk of heart disease.
The NHS states that high cholesterol is typically caused by fatty foods, lack of exercise, obesity, smoking, and alcohol consumption, but it can also be hereditary.
They added that “too much cholesterol can block your blood vessels. It makes you more likely to have heart problems or a stroke,” and that those with high cholesterol usually don’t experience any symptoms.
Claudia recently introduced fans to the third series of the increasingly popular ‘The Traitors’.
Yet, she confessed to her good pal and sports broadcaster Gabby Logan that taking the gig wasn’t a no-brainer: “The Traitors is something I initially turned down because I didn’t like leaving my bed or the kids and they were like ‘would you go to Scotland for three and a half weeks?”
It was only after one pivotal moment that she reconsidered: “And I was like ‘I don’t think so’ and then I watched the Dutch version and I became so obsessed.”, reports Surrey Live.
“I sent an email to Kate Phillips who offered me the job, who works at the BBC, saying ‘I’ve booked a train, I want to do this more than anything’ because it is a privilege to watch the psychology and gameplay up close.” she added.
Don’t miss The Traitors airing tonight at 9pm on BBC One.
