Claudia Winkleman, host of ‘The Traitors’, has confessed her obsession with a certain superfood known for its cholesterol-lowering powers. In a conversation with Mark Wogan on his Virgin Radio podcast, Claudia disclosed her penchant for avocados, despite generally shunning fruit.
She expressed her indifference towards fruit in savoury dishes, saying: “I don’t like fruit in anything savoury, I won’t have it. I’m not interested in fruit. If you said to me ‘Claude, bad news, we’ve lost all the fruit’, I’d be like ‘okay’.”
She added, “I think I had a cherry that I quite enjoyed once but that’s it, but no fruits, not my bag, I like a potato.”
While Claudia may not have been fully aware of the avocado’s extensive health benefits, nutrition experts have long recommended incorporating this superfood into our diets. Healthline reports that avocados can reduce levels of harmful cholesterol and boost beneficial cholesterol, although they note more research is needed for a definitive understanding.

Beyond cholesterol management, avocados offer a wealth of other health advantages, being rich in essential nutrients, healthy fats, protein, and vitamins and minerals often missing from the average diet, reports Surrey Live.
The highly touted superfood is also rumoured to be capable of lowering the risk of heart disease. The NHS pinpoints high cholesterol as typically resulting from eating fatty foods, insufficient exercise, being overweight, smoking, and drinking alcohol, although it can be hereditary too.
Moving away from avocados, earlier this week Claudia delighted fans with the debut of the third episode of the increasingly popular BBC show, The Traitors.
However, in her candid discussion with friend and sports broadcaster Gabby Logan, Claudia confessed that initially she was hesitant to helm the series: “The Traitors is something I initially turned down because I didn’t like leaving my bed or the kids and they were like ‘would you go to Scotland for three and a half weeks?'”
Her mind was swiftly altered after one particular action: “And I was like ‘I don’t think so’ and then I watched the Dutch version and I became so obsessed.”
The Traitors is set for broadcast tonight at 9pm on BBC One.
