Fresh off their 2023 trip to Segovia, globe-trotting primary pupils at Pilton Bluecoat Academy have enjoyed their latest adventure.
The trip was part of the first international partnership visit to Evangelische Grundschule Potsdam in Germany.
Sixteen of the school’s year five and six students, aged 10 to 11, embarked on the experience, reflecting our school’s vision of Building Brighter Futures.
Head of school Mat Harts said: “We believe that while it is important to be deeply connected to our local community, it is equally vital to be part of the international community, widening our students’ perspectives and experiences.
“During their visit, our students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in German culture, engaging in various educational activities that complemented and enhanced their current curriculum. This experience not only deepened their understanding of a different way of life but also gave them the chance to reflect on the values that unite us globally. It allowed them to see firsthand how their learning at Pilton Bluecoat connects with the wider world.
“At Pilton Bluecoat, we are committed to providing children with opportunities that extend beyond the classroom. Experiences like this help to develop the cultural capital that is essential for their future success. We aim to equip our students with the knowledge, skills, and understanding that will prepare them for life in an increasingly globalised world. By building connections with peers from other countries, we nurture open-mindedness, empathy, and the ability to thrive in diverse environments.
“This visit marks the beginning of what we hope will be a long and fruitful partnership with Evangelische Grundschule Potsdam. We are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead, and we look forward to continuing to build on this international relationship to enrich the educational journeys of our students.”
