Parts of Devon face icy temperatures, snowfall and frozen rain today amid a Met Office weather warning. Forecasters warn of significant disruption in northernmost parts of the county, with travel disruption, slips and falls and power cuts all possible during the weekend.
While only parts of north and mid Devon is included in a severe snow and ice weather warning, issued by the Met Office from 12pm to 11.59pm today (December 4), snow, heavy rain and hail is forecasted for the rest of the county, with temperatures staying low throughout the day and into the night.
High ground on Dartmoor and Exmoor is predicted snowfall throughout the day, while rain is more likely elsewhere in Devon. The Met Office said: “Outbreaks of rain spreading progressively northeastwards later on Saturday and overnight into Sunday will likely be preceded by a spell of snow on its northern flank. Whilst there is some uncertainty, any snow in southern and eastern parts of England, especially at low levels, will probably be rather transient before turning back to rain.”
