Coronation Street fans have been left gobsmacked after hearing Alison King’s real voice for the first time.
The actress shot to fame playing Carla Connor on the beloved ITV soap – making her debut in 2006. Since then, it’s fair to say factory owner Carla has become a firm-favourite with viewers and a staple on the soap.
She has also had her fair share of memorable storylines over the years. From steamy affairs to battling alcoholism, her time on the famous street has not been short of drama.
What’s more, Alison has received acclaim for her acting too winning the award for Best Actress at the 2012 British Soap Awards following her powerful treatment of a rape storyline on the soap.

And over on the cobbles recently, Carla has struck up a relationship with DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers). The pair have become a hit with fans, and after months of playing hard to get, the pair cemented their relationship over Christmas.
However, fans of the soap have recently been left “in shock” after hearing Carla actor Alison King’s real voice for the first time. Alongside an interview clip of Alison, one fan penned on X: “The cognitive dissonance of hearing Ali King’s real voice and accent, and not her Carla Connor voice and accent…….I’m sat here in SHOCK.”

Other fans agreed, with someone else writing: “Blimey she sounds very different.” A third chimed in: “I just LOVE her real accent, she sounds so posh and loads less nasally, how she keeps Carla’s accent up is Insane!!”
Echoing their thoughts, a fourth stunned fan proclaimed: “I will never get over this!” Another then wrote: “I know it is a shock but imma level with you guys. Almost everyone in #corrie does NOT have a Northern accent.”

It’s a dramatic time for Carla on Coronation Street at the moment. Despite her romance with Lisa going well, this week, Carla was rushed to the hospital where she was told she had sepsis.
What’s more, Carla will be dealt another shock when brother Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) makes his return. Speaking about Rob’s return, Corrie’s new boss Kate Brooks previously said: “Rob comes back and causes a lot of trouble for Carla and Lisa.”
She explained: “Just when Carla and Lisa think it’s safe for them to sit down and watch Netflix, Rob Donovan comes along and kind of scuppers all of that.”
