Snow and ice is expected across most of England including Merseyside
The Met Office has issued weather warnings this weekend
The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for Merseyside today. A yellow weather warning is issued for snow and ice with some freezing rain in parts of the UK, which may cause disruption over the weekend. This is in place from 12pm on Saturday, January 4 until 11.59pm on Sunday, January 5.
An amber weather warning is also issued for snow and ice between 6pm on Saturday, January 4 and 12pm on Sunday, January 5. On its website, the forecaster said: “There is a good chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage. Travel delays on roads are likely, stranding some vehicles and passengers.
“Some road closures and longer journey times possible. Some delays and cancellations to bus, rail and air travel are likely. There is a good chance that some rural communities could become cut off. Untreated pavements and cycle paths likely to be impassable.”
