New weather warning issued for Wales by Met Office as snow clouds set to roll in

A new weather warning has been issued for most of Wales, meaning that on Sunday morning there will be three warnings in place across the country at the same time. A yellow warning for snow and ice is in place for most of Wales between 12pm on Saturday and midnight on Sunday.

Then, an amber warning for snow and ice will be in force between 6pm on Saturday and 12pm on Sunday. A new yellow warning for rain has now been issued which comes into force at 6am on Sunday and will remain in place until 9pm on Sunday. The latest warning covers most of south and mid Wales and Gwynedd, Denbighshire and Wrexham in the north. It means that between 6am and 12pm on Sunday, three weather warnings will be in force at the same time.

According to the Met Office, which has issued all three warnings, we should expect “heavy rain and thawing snow leading to some flooding in places” on Sunday. The forecaster added: “Outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, are likely on Sunday. 15 to 25mm rainfall, combined with some thaw of lying snow, may lead to some flooding and travel disruption in places.

“Check if your property could be at risk of flooding. If so, consider preparing a flood plan and an emergency flood kit. Be prepared for weather warnings to change quickly: when a weather warning is issued, the Met Office recommends staying up to date with the weather forecast in your area.”

As well as most of Wales, the new warning for rain covers the north west of England, Derbyshire, and the West Midlands.
