Taylor Swift has taken the top spot for the UK’s best-selling vinyl album of 2024.
The Tortured Poets Department sold 112,000 units last year, making it her third consecutive year at the top. The album debuted at number one on the charts with 66,000 vinyl sales – becoming the fastest-selling vinyl of the millennium – and its sales soared after the December Anthology edition release, securing a 10-week reign on the Official Albums Chart.
Oasis’ Definitely Maybe came in second with 50,500 vinyl sales, boosted by its 30th anniversary reissue and their 2025 comeback. American singer Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess ranked third with 43,600 units sold.
Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet came fourth with 42,900 sales and Fontaines D.C.’s Romance followed with 42,100 to complete the top five entries. Other notable entries include Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft (6), Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours (7), The Cure’s Songs of a Lost World (8), Coldplay’s Moon Music (9), and Charli XCX’s BRAT (10), which is the best-selling vinyl by a British solo artist.

In singles, Liam Gallagher & John Squire ended 2024 with the year’s best-selling vinyl release, Just Another Rainbow. Produced by pop supremo Greg Kurstin, the track’s vinyl sales were so strong that it led to Just Another Rainbow charting in the main Official Singles Chart at number 16 in January.
Chappell Roan’s Good Luck, Babe! ranked second, ahead of Noah Kahan’s Stick Season (3). Other notable singles include Olivia Rodrigo and Noah Kahan’s BBC covers (6) and Mark Knopfler’s Going Home (15), which supports Teenage Cancer Trust.
Further down the list, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds came in at 24 with In a Little While.
The Official Charts Company reports a whopping 6.7m vinyl albums were sold in the UK in 2024, a 9.1 per cent increase from the previous year. That means 2024 was the 17th rolling year of growth for the physical format of music and the biggest year for vinyl sales in three decades.
