How much Luke Littler earned after record-breaking darts win against Michael Van Gerwen

It’s a good start to the new year for Luke Littler, as the darts superstar has just bagged himself £500,000 after an epic win.

The 17-year-old beat darts legend Michael Van Gerwen 7-3 in a showdown on Friday night. Littler was taking part in his second successive World Championship final at Alexandra Palace, where he won the top prize. Not only was his win impressive, but Littler is also the youngest ever winner of the world champion title.

Coming in to the public sphere last year, Littler has had an impressive year of wins and even finished second in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year. He was also the most Googled UK sportsperson of 2024.

The Manchester Evening News has provided a breakdown of each player and how much they earnt in the run up to the final, including Littler’s take home from his win.

What’s the World Darts Championship prize money?

As a result of winning the WDC title, Littler will take home a staggering £500,000. While Van Gerwen has bagged himself less than half of that figure – £200,000. The total list of winnings can be viewed below.

Winner: £500,000

Runner-up: £200,000

Semi-finalist: £100,000

Quarter-finalist: £50,000

Fourth round: £35,000

Third round: £25,000

Second round: £15,000

First Round: £7,5000

There has also been more money on offer from sponsors Paddy Power. If a player hits a nine-dart finish, like Damon Heta and Christian Kist did earlier in the tournament, then there are three shares of £60,000 dished out.

£60,000 goes to Prostate Cancer UK, another £60,000 to a random person in the Ally Pally crowd, and the player themselves take home that amount, too. Paddy Power also donated £1,000 to Prostate Cancer UK every time a player hits a 180.
