Louise Thompson has seemingly confirmed her brother Sam Thompson’s breakup with Zara McDermott and hinted at their future relationship. The ex-Made In Chelsea star, who is very close to her brother Sam and was often seen with his Love Island beau Zara, lives right next door to them in their plush London pads.
However, this week the family dynamic has been shaken by rumours that Sam and Zara have ended their relationship. The couple, who have been an item since 2019, reportedly split recently.
Both Sam and Zara have remained silent about their relationship’s end and spent the festive season apart. Louise hasn’t publicly addressed the breakup but did post on Instagram about a ‘bury and burn ritual’ she held in her garden after experiencing “one of the best and worst years” of her life.

This post came out as news of her brother’s split was circulating, prompting a fan to question how things would proceed. The comment read: “Hope you don’t just drop Zara.”
By liking this comment, Louise seemed to make a clear statement regarding her continued friendship with Zara, reports the Mirror. A fan observed: “Liking this comment has basically confirmed the split for us all!!”
Whereas the duo last made an appearance together during Zara’s birthday celebration in December, with Sam posting heartfelt sentiments referring to her as his “soulmate” and teasing the prospect of an engagement. Louise also joined a lunch for Zara’s birthday recently, despite previously finding the couple’s reunion hard to accept in the aftermath of their cheating scandal.
For Zara’s birthday, Sam expressed affectionately: “My best friend, and soul mate….some would say my person. I’m afraid you’re stuck with me forever happy birthday. I love you so much, and wow have I missed you over the past month! Here’s to another amazing year with you.”
The news of their breakup came as a shock especially after such a loving tribute. Nevertheless, many speculate that the incident where Zara was unfaithful to Sam in 2019 might have left a lasting impact on their relationship.
During The X Factor: Celebrity in 2019, it emerged that Zara was unfaithful with music executive Brahim Fouradi, which is believed to have deeply affected Sam’s trust. Sam called time on their 16-month romance back in September 2020 following revelations of Zara’s fling with Brahim, which she owned up to in memorable footage broadcast on the E4 series Made in Chelsea that year.
At the time, Sam faced a barrage of criticism for forgiving Zara and rekindling their romance, while Zara herself was lambasted online for her infidelity. Unveiling the pair’s struggles, an insider revealed to MailOnline: “Zara and Sam’s relationship just never had felt like it was heading for the long haul. They never really recovered from Zara’s cheating, most couples would have struggled lasting for as long as they did afterwards.
“Zara had some big making up to do, especially with Louise, she really wasn’t happy when Sam took her back. But she managed to make it work and they had some great times together again, but it just felt like it was never going to be truly serious. They were delaying the inevitable for several months as they had drifted apart and their lives had become very different.”
