Nicole Kidman was moved to tears as she remembered her late parents upon receiving a top accolade. The 57 year old Australian star was awarded the International Star Award at the Palm Springs International Film Awards, with Jamie Lee Curtis presenting the honour.
During her heartfelt speech at the Palm Springs Convention Center, Nicole shared: “I went home over Christmas. I’ve lost both my parents, and I’m in that place, like, ok, this is different now.”
She added: “They’ve given me the resilience and they’ve given me the love and they’ve given me the strength to keep moving forward.” The Hollywood A-lister had to leave the Venice Film Festival abruptly in September after the sad news of her mother Janelle Ann’s passing at 84.

At the time, Nicole was celebrating her Best Actress win for her performance in ‘Babygirl’. The film’s director Halina Reijin accepted the award on Nicole’s behalf and explained to the attendees the reason behind Nicole’s hasty departure from the festival.
Reflecting on that moment and her return to the stage, Nicole said: “Now I’m on stage, and I’m back here. Thank you for giving me the chance to say this is for my mom.” She concluded by dedicating her career to her parents: “My whole career has been for my mom and my dad and they’re not here anymore. I want to keep working and giving to the world. “.
Overcome by emotion, the actress said: “I’m sorry I’m crying. I didn’t want to do that but I feel my mama right now. This is for your mama.”
The Hollywood heavyweight endured similar pain in 2014 after her father Anthony tragically passed away at 75 following a fall. Discussing her personal ordeals, Kidman previously laid bare her soul about her turmoil upon visiting her deceased father. During a profoundly candid moment, she recounted how her reaction was one of extreme distress: “awful” as she “shook and laughed”.
