Snow covers Birmingham and the wider West Midlands – your pictures

Snow fell across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands overnight – turning parts of the region into a winder wonderland. Families in the county woke up to a snow-covered ground this morning, January 5.

They have been out building snowmen in their gardens and in local parks, having snowball fights and making snow angels. But, whilst having fun is important, the Met Office has also urged everyone to make sure they stay safe.

An amber weather warning for snow and ice is currently in place across the region. The amber warning, which means travel delays and road closures are likely, is set to last until 12pm today.

A less severe yellow warning will be in place from midday. The Met Office forecast for the West Midlands today reads: “Rain continues through much of the day, heavy at times.”

Later tonight the rain will move eastwards before snow returns again by the early hours. The Met Office said: “Rain moves eastwards overnight, with the return of snow for some by the early hours. Turning drier but colder by dawn however, with winds easing and shifting to a northerly.”

Does your home or street look particularly lovely covered in snow this morning? Are you out walking your dog in a winter wonderland?
