‘I’m a professional cleaner – here’s how to remove limescale from shower glass in no time’

If you live in an area with hard water, you’ll likely be no stranger to limescale in your bathroom.

Hard water contains minerals such as calcium and magnesium and is a result of the geology of the UK landscape, which is made up of sedimentary rocks such as chalk and limestone. This type of water can leave unsightly limescale deposits around your home and on appliances.

To tackle this, cleaning expert Brandon has shared his go-to homemade solution for demisting shower glass and getting rid of limescale. On his YouTube channel ‘Clean That Up’, Brandon recommends using his “favourite DIY mixture”, which contains one cup of white vinegar, one cup of water and a teaspoon of dish soap.

He demonstrates spraying the mixture onto the shower screen, insisting on allowing it to dwell for “five to 10 minutes” to dissolve hard water residue effectively. The janitor then scrubs the surface with a “non-scratch sponge” before rinsing off the suds, drying with a microfibre cloth for a pristine, “streak-free” appearance.

Beyond DIY options, he also advocates for certain manufactured cleaners for those aiming for crystal-clear glass, reports the Express.

Brandon’s video was met with a wave of positive responses from fans. One viewer commented: “I’ve just discovered this channel and have learned so much after only a few videos. Truly fantastic, thank you for your wonderful insight. Now to clean my shower.”

A third person shared their own cleaning tip: “This works like a charm. In addition to this, I also rubbed some baking soda on the glass surface. Give it five to 10 then rinse with hot water. Cheers.”
