Charlene White, a co-host on Loose Women, opened up about her encounter with a celebrity guest that left her quite taken aback. Speaking on Caroline Hirons’ Glad We Had This Chat podcast, she picked former Neighbours star Jason Donovan as the most unforgettable guest since she started on the programme nearly four years ago.
White reminisced about meeting Donovan, saying: “It wasn’t that long ago that we had Jason Donovan, and I’d not met Jason before and I’m of the Kylie and Jason era, so I was getting really excited about seeing Jason Donovan.”
Although thrilled at the prospect of meeting the Aussie actor for the first time, the ITV newsreader shared that something about the 56-year-old actor caught her off guard: “Then you expect him to be like this huge superstar that is just going to take your heart away. And, he was just kind of normal and I can’t work out if I was really disappointed by that or really happy, maybe a little bit of both.”

She continued: “But I kind of expected him to come in in heartthrob mode, not that I knew what heartthrob mode is, and I thought ‘oh my gosh’ am I just going to swoon or something and then he was just like this regular guy who gave amazing hugs, he’s a great dad, he’s just really normal.”
During the programme, Charlene delved into her journey to becoming a member of the Loose Women panel, saying: “My entire career has sort of been me sat there going ‘what do I want to do? I want to do this’ and then I’ll figure out a way to do it,” reports the Liverpool Echo.
Following a career with ITV’s news shows, in 2020 Charlene sought to join the popular daytime chat show. She shared: “I have wanted to do Loose Women for a while, and so, I’d been pushing it for a while, and that pushing finally came off four years ago when I was invited in for a meeting and we had a bit of a chat and they liked what I had to say. I just think it’s one of the most incredible shows I’ve ever worked on.”
