Vinted seller uses creative way to post order – but people point out grim flaw

When it comes to buying and selling second-hand items, Vinted is the way forward.

It’s great for saving money, as well as making some extra cash. But how far would you go to save your precious pennies? Well one woman has been rinsed online for her inventive method.

Some are calling it weird, while others reckon it’s rather disgusting. Now in a post on TikTok, seller Chrissy is seen sending off a top someone had brought from her on the platform.

Then she films herself getting it out from her wardrobe, before going to her bathroom to grab an empty toilet roll. She rolls it up neatly and stuffs it into the bog roll.

As it was slightly too big for just one toilet roll, she went to grab two more she put together to fit the rest of the item inside. Next she put the long roll into an orange plastic bag, which was the end of her packaging process.

She wrote on top of the video: “To the person who just order my top on Vinted… I’m sorry,” before adding in the caption: “Better than nothing though, right?”

While her video racked up a whopping 1.9million views on TikTok, people were not impressed by her innovative choice of packaging.

One person wrote: “The amount of germs on that and now on the top,” while another user said: “Why are people too stingy to bulk buy parcel bags from Amazon?”

“And this is why I don’t buy stuff off Vinted… Definitely send it back if it arrived like that,” a third user said.

However others weren’t as bothered, as one person said: “Am I the only one who doesn’t care about the packaging as long as the item is fine? I’d rather people recycled stuff, it’s better for the environment.”

Another one asked: “But why not just put it in the plastic bag without the empty toilet roll (???) LOL!”

When approached for comment, Vinted referred to its guidelines, which states all orders must be packed with ‘appropriate material’.

This includes bubble wrap, foam, paper, newspaper or corrugated material, and ideally with a cardboard box which fits the item’s size and weight.
