A much-loved mum was found dead inside a restaurant after going to the loo.
Sabrina Lyttle, 47, is understood to have been discovered in one of the restaurant’s toilets. Her mum Catherine has since claimed her daughter had gone into the restaurant to use the loos two days earlier. She said customers had reported not being able to access one of the cubicles – but Sabrina was not found until November 30, two days later.
Police were called to Gurkha Restaurant in Waterloo Road, which serves Chinese, Thai and Indian food, at 1pm on Saturday November 30. Catherine posted on Facebook: “My daughter entered the property on Thursday November 28 to use the toilet. Post mortem is still waiting to find the cause of death but her body was not discovered until Saturday afternoon.
A spokesman for Lancashire Constabulary said: “We were called at shortly after 1pm on Saturday, November 30 to a report of a sudden death at an address on Waterloo Road in Blackpool. Officers attended and sadly the body of a woman in her 40s was found dead inside the address. Our thoughts are with her loved ones at this time. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
An inquest into Sabrina’s death is due to be held at Blackpool Town Hall at 10am on Thursday April 3.
Meanwhile, police launched an investigation after a woman’s body was pulled from a canal last weekend.
Officers from West Yorkshire Police were joined by the fire service and ambulance service to water in Brighouse, Calderdale, at 9am on January 4, after a member of the public made a 999 call. The body of a woman in her 70s was pulled from the canal by the emergency services and a probe into her death was launched.
Eyewitnesses at the scene reported seeing two fire engines along with crews at the location earlier today. Other people in the area who may have seen something have been asked to come forward urgently.
Detective Inspector Jenny Haigh, of Calderdale CID, said: “We are continuing to investigate following the very sad discovery of this woman in water today. Officers have now identified her and have made relatives aware of this tragic development. There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances in the matter, but we would appeal for anyone who saw an elderly female fall into water in the nearby area or who can assist enquiries in any way to contact us.”
