Children at a Cullompton primary school have been enjoying a wide range of improvements to their outside classroom after a £2,400 donation from Taylor Wimpey.
The housebuilder, which is selling new homes at the Culm Valley Park development, decided to support the Friends of Willowbank Primary School as part of its programme of community work. The donation was used to buy play equipment including bikes, scooters and sports apparatus. The school also bought gardening tools to help the pupils learn about growing and nurturing plants.
Jo Kyte, Assistant Headteacher at Willowbank Primary School, said: “We’re so grateful to Taylor Wimpey for their significant contribution to improving our outdoor classroom.
“Outdoor activity is vital for so many reasons. It gives children a strong start to their physical development by teaching motor skills, coordination, strength, balance and concentration. It also teaches about nature and how to appreciate the natural world around them.
“The pupils are absolutely loving all of the new equipment and it’s made a huge difference to their learning.”
