A year eight student at Paignton Academy has achieved an extraordinary milestone, raising more than £28,000 for the Royal British Legion since beginning his fundraising journey in 2016.
Motivated by his dad’s 27 years of service in the army, Jack has worked tirelessly to make a meaningful difference. His most recent efforts, including selling poppy merchandise at his local Asda and completing a 100-mile walk around Torbay, contributed more than £3,000 to his impressive total.
Jack’s 100-mile challenge, completed in stages after school and on weekends, saw him and his mum braving all weather conditions as they trekked the coastal paths of Torbay. Their dedication turned a personal challenge into a meaningful achievement.

Jack said: “I never expected to raise so much when I first started. I am so happy.” He also shared advice for others inspired to make a difference:
“Try something you enjoy. When you enjoy it, you will want to keep going.”
Over the years, Jack has promoted his fundraising efforts on social media and set up engaging table displays at his local supermarkets. During November, he dedicated his weekends from 8am to 5pm encouraging shoppers to support the Poppy Appeal.
His hard work has sparked countless memorable moments, including heartwarming acts of kindness and generous donations from strangers.

Derwyn Williams, principal of Paignton Academy, praised Jack’s efforts, saying: “Raising over £28,000 is an incredible achievement. Jack’s commitment to helping others is an inspiration to us all.
“His fundraising efforts not only support an important cause but also bring our community together. Jack’s actions remind us of the power of character, ambition, and pride in making a difference. Well done Jack.”
