Jamie Carragher praised his “unbelievable” wife Nicola in an honest family update. The Liverpool FC legend has been supporting his wife in recent months as she undertakes the six world marathon majors of Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, New York.
Carragher was a guest on Ryan Hall’s podcast. Better known as StillRyan, he has been creating content on a range of social channels for a number of years as part of his ‘Still Gang’ brand with an emphasis on positivity.
Croxteth-born Ryan asked Carragher about his wife and he responded immediately that she was “unbelievable”. He also believes Nicola is undertaking the marathon challenge as she feels that she missed out on making the most out of her creative and physical talents in her younger years.
Carragher revealed Nicola, like their daughter Mia, was a talented actress when she was younger but lacked the opportunities to make it into a full career. He believes she regrets not pursing this line of work further.
Carragher said: “She’s an absolute superstar. I could not do a marathon. I’m looking at her thinking, wow. It’s unbelievable what she’s done, but she was always very fit and a runner when she was a kid. I always think that she feels that she never went on to achieve something that she should have. She always really pushes Mia.”
When asked to expand on this by Ryan, he added: “(Nicola) was someone who was on the stage like Mia was as a young kid, but we were in a (different) position. We took Mia to London, we did all different things to give her as much opportunity as she possibly could have. I think, if you’re a young kid in Bootle, where do you go? What do you do?
“It’s different with football because if you’ve got a talent, you’re in Everton or Liverpool, it’s on your doorstep. There’ll be a lot of good footballers in this city who make it because basically Everton and Liverpool are on the doorstep.
“If they’ve got a bit of talent, they’ll go train there once or twice a week. But in terms of a young girl, being a singer or an actress or something, where do you go?”
