Snow continues to fall in parts of Lancashire, even after the yellow weather warning has ended.
Overnight, the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for parts of Lancashire, starting from 5pm on Monday (January 6). The warning was in place until 10am on Tuesday (January 7), stating icy conditions may lead to disruption on the roads and pavements.
However, despite the warning being lifted and the sun peeking through the clouds for most parts of the county, many areas are still experiencing heavy snowfall. This includes areas like Darwen which are expected to see snow and sleet until 6pm.
The Met Office’s forecast for the north west today states: “A day of sunny spells and scattered showers, mixing rain, sleet, snow and hail. Breezy at times, especially at the coasts and in and around any showers. Feeling cold despite the sunshine. Maximum temperature 4C.”

For tonight, it says: “Turning drier with clear spells as showers slowly fade and the winds ease overnight. Turning cold under the clear skies with a severe frost forming, and some icy stretches possible. Minimum temperature -9C.”
Wednesday should look brighter for the north west, but it will still be cold and frosty, according to the Met Office. It adds: “A cold and frosty but bright start to Wednesday with sunny intervals and the odd wintry showers, mainly near the coasts. Feeling cold, but winds lighter than on Tuesday. Maximum temperature 4C.”
