The cast and crew of a production starring The Vivienne have paid a heartfelt tribute to the drag artist following their tragic death.
The Vivienne, whose real name was James Lee Williams, tragically passed away at the age of 32 over the weekend. The Vivienne was announced as one of the stars of the 2025 Chitty Chitty Bang Bang tour due to stop in Sheffield in February.
A post on the on the official Chitty Chitty Bang Bang tour Instagram account reads: “Everyone at Chitty Chitty Bang Band is saddened by the passing of The Vivienne. The Vivienne’s incredible and brilliant talent shone through in their portrayal of The Childcatcher.
“They were an integral part of our company and will be missed immensely. Our thoughts are with their family and friends at this very sad time. There will be further news from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in due course.”
The Vivienne’s death was confirmed on Sunday and announced by publicist and friend Simon Jones. He took to Twitter/X to share a statement that read: “It is with immense sadness that we let you know our beloved James Lee Williams – The Vivienne, has passed this weekend.
“James was an incredibly loved, warm-hearted and amazing person. Their family are heartbroken at the loss of their son, brother and uncle. They are so proud of the wonderful things James achieved in their life and career. We will not be releasing any further details. We please ask that James’s family are given the time and privacy they now need to process and grieve.”
