Shocking footage has captured the moment masked thugs raided a corner shop in Newport. The incident happened at Caerleon Road in the city at around 9.40pm on Monday, December 9.
In a statement Gwent Police has appealed for the public’s help to find those responsible. In the CCTV footage obtained from the shop one of the masked thieves is seen walking up to the counter in the shop from the door and raising the weapon above their head.
The weapon – which the force describes as a tool – is then brought down by the thug and smashed on the counter where one shopworker is present. The till is then pulled away from the counter with force before the pair leave the shop.
In a statement issued on Tuesday a spokesperson for Gwent Police said: “We’re appealing for witnesses following a report of a robbery in a shop in Caerleon Road, Newport. The robbery is believed to have taken place at around 9.40pm on Monday, December 9 after two unknown people entered the shop with a tool, took the shop till and left the area in a car, believed to be a black Vauxhall Corsa.
