The first pictures from the scene of a stabbing in Central London show key shopping streets cordoned off by police. A 36-year-old man is fighting for his life following the attack in Brook Street at about 3.30am this morning (Monday, December 30).
The Metropolitan Police has since arrested two women on suspicion of attempted murder. Aged 34 and 39, the pair were stopped while driving a car in Eltham at 5.40am. The 39-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drugs and for possessing cannabis.
Pictures from the scene show the busy shopping area near Oxford Street is practically deserted due to police cordoning it off. Local reports suggest Brook Street has now reopened, while the adjoining South Molton Street remains shut.
Police have launched an appeal for any information or people who witnessed the attack. A Met spokesperson said: “Anyone with information should call police on 101, providing the reference 802/30DEC. Information can also be provided to Crimestoppers, anonymously, by calling 0800 555 111.”
