A man is in a serious condition in hospital after a two-car collision in Birmingham this morning. West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the junction of Mary Street and Edwards Road, Balsall Heath, at 11.41am, today, Tuesday, January 7.
An ambulance, paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma team of medics attended the incident. The man was given advanced trauma care at the roadside.
He was rushed to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further treatment. The ambulance service said no-one else was at the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Ambulance staff arrived on scene within four minutes of the 999 call being made to find the driver of one car, a man, in a serious condition.
“The team of ambulance staff worked together to provide advanced trauma care to the man before he was blue lighted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further specialist care. There were no other occupants on scene.”
