EastEnders fans reckon they’ve cracked the case of who assaulted Cindy Beale (portrayed by Michelle Collins) on Christmas Day, following a revelation from Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) on Tuesday evening (January 7).
Cindy was savagely hit over the head with a shovel just moments after her affair with Junior (Micah Balfour) was revealed in a tense face-off between the Beales and Knights. She’s currently comatose in hospital, with both families speculating about the identity of the unknown assailant.
George Knight (Colin Salmon) has an alibi from his vulnerable brother Kojo Asare (Dayo Koleosho), placing him away from the crime scene. On Monday, George visited his ex-wife to check on her condition, and while at the hospital, he saw his son Junior.

During his most recent visit to Walford (January 7), ex-boxer George retrieved his blood-soaked shirt from its hiding spot, only to hide it again when wife Elaine approached him.
In an attempt to save face, he fabricated a tale about being concerned for their marriage and confessed to visiting Cindy, asserting his right to see the mother of his children, reports the Manchester Evening News.
However, Elaine was still upset that George had referred to Cindy as ‘his wife’ at Christmas, and criticised George for only informing her about the visit before Junior could.
Eventually, Elaine allowed George to move back into The Vic after he had been staying at the Bed and Breakfast, but he was told to stay in Linda’s (Kellie Bright) room while she was in rehab.

Elaine was initially thrilled, but her happiness quickly vanished as she opened a cupboard to discover a shirt splattered with blood.
George’s daughters, Anna (Molly Rainford)and Gina (Francesca Henry), identified the shirt as the one he wore on Christmas Day.
Yet fans of EastEnders are theorising that the shirt might just be a red herring, and that it is actually George’s sibling Kojo who may have a grudge against Cindy, especially after he sustained a fall when discovering her infidelity.
This theory gained traction as George had persuaded Kojo to alibi him on the night Cindy was attacked.

On social media platform X, speculation amongst viewers is rife. One fan speculated: “George covering for Kojo #EastEnders”, while another confidently stated: “We’re saying Kojo’s the one who attacked Cindy, agree?! #eastenders.”
Another fan remarked: “I think George asking Kojo to cover for him is a red herring. It wouldn’t be this obvious. I think Kojo attacked Cindy. #EastEnders.”
Concluding the fan theories, one viewer suggested: “George hiding Kojo’s bloody shirt, imho #EastEnders” and another simply put it: “Kojo did it… #EastEnders.”
