A Welsh brand has seen sales surge after one of its products featured in the Gavin & Stacey Christmas special. The Goodwash Company, a Barry-based social enterprise, has seen its online sales rise by 20% since it appeared in the highly anticipated finale of the hit BBC show.
The brand’s “luxurious” and “cruelty-free” handwash was seen in Pam and Mick West’s Billericay bathroom, which significantly boosted the brand’s online visibility and sales. Mandy Powell, founder of The Goodwash Company, could not contain her excitement when she saw her products during the show. For the latest Welsh news delivered to your inbox sign up to our newsletter
She said: “Being featured in Gavin & Stacey has been incredible for us. It’s especially meaningful for me as a proud Barry resident and long-time fan of the show.
“The programme brought a genuine sense of magic to Barry during filming. However, I didn’t know our products would appear on the show. When I spotted our ‘Sebon Dwylo’ behind Smithy in the bathroom, I let out a little scream of excitement.”

The cameo has done wonders for the Welsh brand as the show brought national attention to it, thereby triggering a surge in online sales and engagement. In just two days, TikTok views rose from an average of 2,000, to nearly 100,000.
Mandy said: “It was an honour to see our ethical Welsh luxury handwash showcased in a show so beloved by audiences worldwide. Witnessing the surge of interest in our brand online is the icing on the cake.”
Since The Goodwash Company was founded by the entrepreneur from Port Talbot, it has worked to establish a reputation for sustainable, vegan, and cruelty-free skincare products. The brand also invests back into Welsh communities and other charitable initiatives while its growth has been supported by the Business Wales Accelerated Growth Programme (AGP).
Mandy now hopes to use this boost to further celebrate Welsh culture, adding: “We are committed to celebrating Welsh culture, and the Welsh language is integral to our brand, reflected in our packaging and messaging. The increased visibility and the spike in sales have been phenomenal for us, and we’re so proud to put ethical Welsh products on the map.
“We plan to expand our online marketing efforts, grow our presence on TikTok, and explore exciting new partnerships. We are confident we can build on this momentum to reach even more customers worldwide.”
