The Met Office said transport may still be impacted today

Merseyside has faced a cold few days following snowfall. On Tuesday, January 7 many people woke up to a blanket of snow and freezing temperatures.
The snowfall caused disruption on the region’s roads, train services and also flights. A yellow weather warning for ice still remains in place and covers the majority of Merseyside, excluding the waterfront areas such as Hoylake, Formby and Southport.
Forecasters said icy stretches in the area could impact some transport. The yellow weather alert is set to end at midday today (January 8). Met Office Chief Forecaster, Jason Kelly, said: “With cold weather persisting across the UK this week we have a number of severe weather warnings for wintry hazards.
“Snow showers will continue to fall over Scotland, Northern Ireland and into Northern Wales and northern England too. Where surface water and snow freeze overnight there is a risk of ice as temperatures widely dip below freezing. There will however be good spells of sunshine for those away from northern coasts, though it’ll still feel cold in the northerly breeze.”
In Liverpool, it is set to be cold but largely dry day with bright or sunny spells. There is forecast to be a few showers along the coast during the early hours of this evening, but elsewhere it is set to be “very cold under the clear skies with a severe frost”.
