Police have warned motorists to ‘slow down and drive according to the weather conditions’ following a dramatic crash.
Emergency services were called to the A56 Bypass in Rossendale on Tuesday evening (January 7) following reports of a collision. Police arrived to find a car had ‘lost control’ on the A56 near Haslingden before ‘swerving from the main carriageway across the junction entry slip’.
The vehicle then collided with a barrier resulting in severe damage to the bonnet and debris left strewn across the road. A picture shared on social media showed the aftermath of the crash and the treacherous conditions on the road at the time of the incident.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Lancs Road Police said: “Please slow down and drive according to the weather conditions. The driver of this car lost control on the A56 swerving from the main carriageway across the junction entry slip and into the barrier.
“Luckily no injuries and no other vehicles involved. #Slowdownsavelives.”
A yellow weather warning for ice was issued by the Met Office between 5pm on Tuesday and 12pm today. The adverse weather is leading to a number of issues for drivers with police warning of black ice in the Burnley and Rossendale areas.
