A man arrested in Greece over the murder of a teenager in Lancashire has been charged following his extradition to the UK.
Matthew Daulby, 19, was stabbed to death in Ormskirk on July 29, 2023. Thomas Dures, 21, was arrested in Athens on December 2, 2024, in connection with the murder.
Lancashire Constabulary has today (January 8) confirmed that Mr Dures has been charged with murder after he arrived back in the UK yesterday (January 7). Mr Daulby was stabbed in the chest and hit with a rock during a mass brawl on Railway Road.
Henry Houghton was found guilty of murder following a trial in March this year. A post mortem examination found that Matthew’s cause of death was a stab wound.
Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, 21-year-old Thomas Dures, of Whalley Drive, Aughton, was charged on Tuesday night with the murder of Mr Daulby.
He has been remanded into custody to appear over video link at Preston Magistrates’ Court today (January 8).

In a statement, a force spokesperson said: “We have charged a man with the murder of Matthew Daulby in Ormskirk. Our officers attended Railway Road at 12.05am on July 29, 2023, to reports of an ongoing disturbance.
“Nineteen-year-old Matthew was found a short distance away with stab injuries. Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, Matthew sadly died later in hospital.
“Our thoughts remain with Matthew’s loved ones who continue to be supported by specially-trained officers. A post mortem examination established that the cause of Matthew’s death was a stab wound.
“Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, 21-year-old Thomas Dures, of Whalley Drive, Aughton, was last night (January 7) been charged with Matthew’s murder. He has been remanded into custody to appear over video link at Preston Magistrates Court today.
“Please can we remind you that proceedings are now active and we would ask people to refrain from commenting or speculating on what remains an ongoing investigation.”
