A major bank is warning customers that they may have more money in their account than they should after and error returned payments to their account. Chase Bank has issued the warning on its status page issuing advice if this has happened to you.
In the update the bank says that it “had a problem with one of our systems between 3pm and 4pm on Tuesday January 7.” This means that some card transactions may have unexpectedly been refunded.
Customers have been warned not to spend this money. “This means you might have more money in your account than you should,” the bank said. “If this has happened to you, please do not spend this money, as we may need to claim it back later.”

Despite the warning, customers do not need to take action or remake their purchases as it will be processed as normal for the merchant with cards continuing to work as expected.
Chase Bank apologised for the inconvenience. It said: “We know you count on your bank for the important things in life. We are working as fast as we can to fix the problem and will update you as soon as we know more.
“We’re sorry for any problems this causes you.”
Chase Bank has more than 1.6 million customers in the UK having launched back in September 2021, it is a subsidiary of JPMorgan Chase.
