A young terrier cross has found itself at Many Tears Animal Rescue in Llanelli in heartbreaking circumstances. 14-month-old Bella grew up as a normal puppy in a happy home but has now been left without sight after being attacked on two occasions.
“Sweet” Bella was sadly attacked by one of the resident dogs she was living with which caused her eye to rupture and meant it had to be removed. Tragically, as she was healing from her surgery, the dog, who was much larger than her, attacked her once again and ruptured her only remaining eye.
Prior to the incidents, Bella enjoyed her life full of beach trips and all the love a young terrier could need. However, now at just over one-year-old, she has to face a monumental change in adjusting to life without vision. For the latest Carmarthenshire news, sign up to our newsletter here
Bella is also in the sad situation of looking for a new home, after her owners decide to rehome her for own safety, and her unfamiliar surroundings are making everything a lot more difficult for her. Many Tears have described Bella as “very noise-sensitive” and heartbreakingly cries when she is left alone.

Bella is currently being fostered at a home and is taking “much comfort” from being around people. In a post on their Facebook page about Bella, Many Tears said: “Bella is the very definition of a lap dog, she will immediately try to hop up onto your lap as soon as she’s aware of your presence, she oozes affection and will smother you with kisses too.”
She is understandably very fearful around other dogs and now snaps if they come too close, so is looking for a home without other dogs and where people will be around for the majority of the time. The centre said: “Bella’s ideal home will be calm and quiet and with adopters who are around most of the time and will keep her company while also helping her adjust to this new life.
“She does get quite upset when we leave her, so she would really like to be able to go everywhere with her adopters and not be left too much. She really loves to sit on your lap and human company is what she craves. She is a lovely girl and we would really like to get her in her forever home as soon as possible, so please don’t leave her waiting too long.”
