A woman has hit back at trolls who say she’s only with her age-gap lover for his money.
Gigi, 30, has had to deal with the wrath of cruel trolls who accuse her of being a gold digger for being with her 62-year-old boyfriend Tim.
What started off as Gigi uploading fun and lighthearted videos of her and Tim’s relationship, turned into the couple facing a barrage of hateful messages about their romance – especially due to how they met.
Gigi, who lives in Bristol, was visiting a David Lloyd gym and saw a flashy bright yellow sports car parked outside and was determined to know who the owner of the car was. She boldly left a note with her number on the window, which then turned out to be Tim, and the couple hit it off straight away.

“It doesn’t matter how we met at the end of the day it was meant to happen, I took a chance and wrote my number and I think sometimes is good to be spontaneous, people meet in different ways and what happens afterwards is more important,” she explained.
She was joking with her friend over who owned the car, and it led to her leaving her number on the window in a bid to find out who the flashy driver was. To her surprise, she soon got a text from the mystery man who explained he was single but was 62.
Their age-gap didn’t phase her and the pair quickly struck up a romance and went on their first date. She admitted she started to develop feelings quickly for Tim, and even though they had over three decades between them, it felt like a normal relationship.
The pair have now been together for over six months, but it wasn’t long before they had to deal with cruel comments. Defending their unusual love story, Gigi insists she’s ‘thick skinned’ and the comments won’t ever change how she feels towards Tim. “I kind of feel like most of the judgments, they come from jealousy, and 80% of the comments on my videos, they all come from loser men who are probably just jealous.”
She knew instantly, when they first met by the swimming pool she “really liked him” and further detailed: “He was just so fit, and he was so tan, his body is amazing! I could not believe when he said he was 61 at the time. So, the next day was Saturday, and we went on a date. He picked me up in the McLaren and off we went. We spent all day on that Saturday together. And that’s been it since then, he was the highlight of my 2024.”
Cruel commenters were quick to brand her a gold digger due to her seeing the car and wanting to know who the owner was, but Gigi said it was just a “funny moment” with her friend. “There’s been no moments that I felt he’s too old. It was never an awkward situation. It was always a proper relationship, just a normal relationship and better than any relationship I ever had in the past.
“He never gets tired and he’s always happy, always positive and that was all the things that made him an inspiration for me.” The pair suddenly went viral on TikTok, and recieved hate comments and judgement, which Gigi said can be “hurtful”. “I wish that I could change that perspective and show that age-gap love works, and it exists.”
Gigi explained that she experiences hate comments from trolls on nearly all of her posts, with more flooding her page as she goes viral. One comment on her TikTok page said: “Of course, you fell in love after seeing the Mclaren,” while another said: “If he didn’t have a penny you wouldn’t be hanging off his shoulder, that’s for sure.”
